14 List Building Tools (And How I Use Them), Advanced List Building Filters & Sprinkling In Personality

#017 - Mastering Outbound Sales Tech

A quick note from me -
I’ll soon be renaming this newsletter to Generating Pipeline to better reflect the content that I’ll be producing. I’ve learnt from you, that sharing cool tools is good, but really you want to understand how to generate pipeline and revenue for your businesses. Well, your wish is my command (soon).

Over the shoulder tutorial…

14 B2B List Building Tools In 19 Minutes

🕵️‍♂️ What - I'm going to show you 14 different tools you can use to build targeted lists of companies for your outreach. These tools include LinkedIn, LinkedIn Sales Navigator, Prospeo, Trigify, Apollo, Ocean, Crunchbase, Storeleads, Clutch, Clay, D7 Lead Finder, Apify, Instant Data Scraper, Phantombuster, and Scrape.li.

🤷 Why - There isn't a one-size-fits-all solution when it comes to list building. Depending on who your target audience is, you may need to use different tools or even a combination of databases. Using the right tools will help you effectively build lists that align with your specific goals.

💡 How - I'll quickly walk you through each of these tools, showing you what they look like and how they work. By the end, you'll have a good understanding of which tools make the most sense for building lists of companies that fit your target market.

Tech worth checking out…

Apollo.io - Powerful list building filters

🕵️‍♂️ What - Apollo.io is a powerful tool for finding prospects, managing contacts, and running automated outreach campaigns. I personally use Smartlead for sending campaigns, but it is possible in Apollo. It also has a great chrome extension which speeds up finding emails from LinkedIn.

🤷 Why - Building lists is a time consuming process. But Apollo’s advanced filters allow you to build much more targeted lists using funding data, technologies, revenue ranges and more.

💡 How - Sign up for a free plan here. And unlock funding data and other datapoints from $49 p/month.

🤫 Here’s a short video of how you can bypass their export limits:

Boring calendar invites…

I’m always looking at ways to “be different” from my competition.

One small example where I do this is with my calendar invites.

A calendar invite might seem like a minor detail, but it’s another opportunity to show your personality and build excitement for the call.

Instead of just being functional, make it clear how attending will help them achieve their goals (e.g. improving SEO services).

Add value by including links to resources or a strong testimonial, and make it personal with an emoji and their name in the event title.

These small tweaks can help you stand out when others are sending bland invites.

Action item: Review your calendar invites and personalise them to make each touchpoint engaging and valuable.

On and up!
